Q&A with Welsh professional wrestler, Nadia Ageli:
-
What is the WWE NXT?
“The NXT trains the future superstars of the WWE. It started as a platform for the WWE’s training performance centre students. They ran regular shows and it got more popular and has grown into what it is today. For me, the NXT is a goal. I hope that one day I will perform at an NXT event and train in their performance centre.”
-
What can people expect from watching wrestling live in an arena?
“Watching wresting live is so different to watching on TV. It’s so exciting! You’ll be questioning how these gifted athletes can pull these moves off; some moves they do are out of this world.”
-
What inspired you to start wrestling?
“I fell in love with it as a child. I got emotionally involved with the storylines and loved the physicality of it all. When I try to imagine my life without wrestling it feels empty; to me wrestling is everything.”
-
How hard is it to train as a professional wrestler?
“It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done. There is so much to learn. When I first started I had wrestling training five times a week. Now I train twice a week in wrestling, have two personal training sessions and gym and swim. In every session you learn something new – that’s what makes it so exciting!”

The future stars of the WWE are ready to powerslam Cardiff as part of the NXT’s first UK tour.
Founded in 2012 as the WWE’s development branch, the NXT trains up-and-coming wrestlers before they progress to WWE’s main ring.
The branch has rapidly grown in popularity since its formation and is praised for its high quality of wrestling and the opportunities it affords women wrestlers, despite being a training institution.
The NXT’s Welsh debut takes place on 15 December at the Motorpoint Arena, with wrestlers Finn Balor (see video below), Dana Brooke and Tyler Breeze taking to the ring.
Cardiff’s very own professional wrestler, Nadia Ageli, thinks this is a great opportunity for Welsh wrestling fanatics.
“It’s awesome that the WWE are bringing NXT to Cardiff,” she said. “Welsh fans will get to see an alternative roster with fresh faces, stand-out characters and five star matches.”
Tickets are available online.
