Cardiff clinic held a fund-raising day at the weekend in the aid of George Thomas Hospice Care, which cares for people dying of terminal illness. They offered free treatment in return for donations.

Andrea Howell is the owner of this clinic and she held this event because she has a family link to the hospice. She said:’ Hospices do such an important job. For me, my grandmother was in a hospice before she passed away. And she was made to be so comfortable and they gave the best care. She ended her life in a much happier and comfortable way. I think it is such important job they do.’

This Clinic offered free treatment and cakes on the day. Participants who enjoyed free treatments and cakes were encouraged to donate money for hospice.

Fundraising day is very important for the George Thomas Hospice Care and their fundraiser Christine Chandler  hopes this event could raise people’s awareness of helping patients in hospice. ‘The reason we ask for help because we are charity, we have to raise 1.4 million pounds. We care for Cardiff area and Cardiff local hospice. We need to fundraise because we don’t get all of that from the government, we get about 30%. So it is raising funds and raising awareness today.’

George Thomas Hospice Care is a Cardiff local hospice and it has cared for patients with cancer and other life limiting illnesses, and their families for many years. It has a team of consultant-led specialists who provide home-based support seven days a week. It has offered physical and occupational therapy for many years and spent more than £900,000 caring for patients, families and carers last year..

This clinic and George Thomas Hospice Care hopes more and more people could join in them to help hospice in the future.
