The app that people use to send a silly face to one another has certainly gone through some changes in recent months. Snapchat, as well has crashing into the world of news, is now looking to break into the world of music.
The encrypted image-sharing app has already made moves to try and make music a central part of the experience with their new soundtrack feature. There have also been some notable events such as Madonna launching her new music video on Snapchat’s Discover Channel.
But Chief Executive Evan Spiegel has hinted that Snapchat is far from finished in utilising music for the app. During a recent talk at the University of Southern California he spoke about how, after communication, music is responsible for the most use for our mobiles. More people are using their phones as their main music device, with many dropping the traditional MP3 player. He said in the talk that, “Music is really appealing to us right now because it has some of the same attributes that communication had when we were working on Snapchat in the beginning.”
How exactly they plan to make music more important on Snapchat is yet to be seen but it is likely in the next couple of months we will see more stunts like the one of Madonna with artist launching new material on the app.
