The queen of crowd funding, Amanda Palmer has bought out a book tackling her favourite topic, artists asking for money. The singer hit the world stage after an impressive Ted Talk in 2013 where she discussed the growing problem of artist embarrassment of asking for audience-funds. With the help of her loyal fan base, Amanda raised over $1.2 million with her kickstarter campaign in 2013. Now the performer has released a book that hopes to give artists the confidence to embark on similar funding campaigns. The Art of Asking’s aim is to make artists rethink their own ideas about asking, giving, art, and love. She is currently promoting her new book on tour although as of yet it is only in the United States.

The book itself expands heavily on the subject of her Ted Talk. She has also released an audio version of the book read by none other than Amanda Palmer herself. The audio book is an immersive experience which includes pieces of music from her various projects. But the overwhelming message of the whole book is that “it’s ok to ask!”
