Damsels in Success Cardiff leader Michelle Clarke
After dedicating time to building her own career success, Dr Michelle Clarke now helps other women build theirs.
Michelle Clarke is the leader of the Cardiff group of Damsels in Success, a community of inspired women who desire to live life to the full, express themselves freely and embrace their own feminine spirit.
Damsels in Success currently holds thirteen groups with three new groups starting up in Manchester, Swansea and North London.
There are monthly meetings forming part of a wider Damsels in Success membership programme which is free for guests and first-timers, and each month holds a different theme.
January’s theme was Conquer the Chaos of Your Inbox.
Dr Clarke said: “The meetings attract both women that work or want to work for themselves and those who may not necessarily want to set up a business.
“We ask the women what they want to cover and this can from key business thinking and how to market yourself to where to position your health and relationships.”
One woman Michelle is happy to have helped through the meetings is silversmith and jewellery designer Karen Dell’armi, a member since the beginning of the Cardiff group.
Since joining the group in 2010 Karen has won several awards including winner of the Most Inspirational Woman, Damsels in Success in 2012 and winner of the Best Woman in Manufacturing, Welsh Women Mean Business Awards in 2011.
Dr Clarke said: “Having it all doesn’t mean doing it all. It’s about doing something you love and putting yourself at the centre.”
Two years ago at a January meeting, Michelle planned to run a 5k race.
When it came to standing up in front of the group and telling them she sub-consciously announced she was going to run the Cardiff half marathon instead. Later that year with the support of the group she did.
“It just demonstrates how powerful and supportive the group really is.”
For the rest of 2014 Michelle’s goals include growing the group’s numbers and supporting and developing the three Damsels in Success groups in Wales.
The Cardiff group’s next meeting, titled Lets Get Visible, will be held on March 3 at the Maldron Hotel, St Mary Street.
