Weird and wonderful freebies from Cardiff

As the saying goes — the best things in life are free and it seems the generous folk of Cardiff have taken it to heart.

DB_Stones3For a freebie in Cardiff, you need look no further than community website Gumtree. The site, which acts as classifieds site for local communities to buy and sell unwanted goods, is being used by some Cardiff residents to give away sofas, Alfa-Romeo car wheels and a rabbit hutch.

Forget bagging a bargain, these generous souls are offering their unwanted goods for free. One user is giving away stones from an old Whitchurch dry-stone wall.

DB_chairsAnother, Kate, is offering up a three-piece suite “from a smoke and pet-free home.”

Other freebies include: free cardboard boxes from Canton company Eastern Waste Disposal, a selection of old DVD players and two six-foot concrete posts – all available from sellers in the city.

But if you are prepared to travel further afield, there are rewards to be found on Gumtree.

Just a short trip up the road to Torfaen and you can bag yourself a fully functioning hi-fi. And go further down the M4 and along the way you could grab a free 28-inch television from Rogerstone, a pair of canvas wardrobes from Burnham-on-sea and some quality ceramic plates from Bristol.
