Whitchurch holds a moving Remembrance memorial service

WHITCHURCH residents took part in the annual Remembrance parade leading from village’s Earl Haig Club to the cenotaph outside the library.

Merthyr Road was closed for the event and the parade was made up of the brass band, wreath-bearers, a committee, club members and the military contingent.

Readings including Binyon’s ‘For the Fallen’ were followed by the laying of wreaths. The windy conditions made things difficult, but the atmosphere remained respectful and sombre.

The singing of the British and Welsh national anthems ended the service and the parade returned along Merthyr Road to Whitchurch Methodist Church.
