GRANGETOWN’s battle with drugs continued as a Clive Street cannabis factory was shut down by South Wales Police.

About 60 plants with a potential street value of £51,000 were taken and destroyed in a 1pm raid last Thursday.

Police spokesman Andrew George said: “The police were tipped off by another government authority, possibly the revenue service, who had previously visited the property.”

An investigation is now under way. The house was empty when police entered and there were no arrests.

There have been 44 drug crimes in Grangetown since January, according to South Wales Police statistics.

Two more cannabis factories were found in Cardiff at the weekend but police do not think the incidents are connected. They raided a property in Cathays on Friday without making any arrests, but three people are in custody after a raid on a house in Canton on Sunday.
