The Wales Millennium Centre is playing host to a number of productions over the holiday season, including:
The Phantom of the Opera
05 Dec – 12 Jan – A new production by Cameron Mackintosh of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic work, with an experienced cast and cutting edge special effects.
Mega Messiah
09 Dec – An event where music students and the audience will rehearse and perform Handel’s ‘Messiah’ over the course of a single day.
Dirty Dancing
06 Nov – 01 Dec – A Live theatrical performance of the classic romantic film.
A Night at the Moulin Rouge
19 Dec – 29 Dec – A night of music, laughter and glamour inspired by the film, including a three course dinner of French cuisine.
If you’re in the bay this weekend and looking for an inexpensive day out then head to the Wales Millennium Centre, which is opening for free and offering a range of activities including a look backstage.
The open weekend will start on 24 November at 10am and offers a number of free productions including walkabout acts, storytelling, workshops and performances. As well as these events staff will be on hand to direct the public around and talk about the history and backstage workings of the building. Tours of the Centre will also be available.
According to the Wales Millennium Centre information office the main events of the weekend will be: “The Grand Theatre of Lemmings, Balloonatics and singing workshops with the Welsh National Opera.”
