The Real Ale Wobble is a mountain bike pub crawl across the countryside and occurs in and around Britain’s smallest town, Llanwrtyd Wells.
The Wobble started in 2001 as a non-competitive biking event to mark the start of 10 days of the Mid-Wales Beer Festival.
Whether you’re a hardcore biker or an enthusiastic ale drinker, there is a range of routes available. The long route is approximately 28 miles and the shorter route approximately 15 miles, with easier sections marked out if you’re feeling a little wobbly.
Routes are marked and marshalled, with feed stations along the way where tokens can be exchanged for locally brewed ale.
And the fun doesn’t stop there. In the evenings, there are over 150 real ales, ciders and perries available to try in the town and local bands to provide entertainment over the weekend.
Online entry is available until seven days before the event
Two days’ riding costs £22 or a single day ride costs £16
Entry on the day is available for a small extra charge.

Microbreweries will be providing most of the beverages at this year’s Real Ale Wobble.
Over 150 real ales will be available to sample during the mid-Wales mountain-biking event and most are from Welsh microbreweries.
Independent microbreweries are fast outperforming corporate breweries due to recent tax breaks and their emphasis on craft.
Organiser and owner of hosting hotel The Neuadd Arms, Lindsay Ketteringham, says, “The Neuadd Arms will be offering around 60 different real ales, from 17 or 18 breweries, all of which are Welsh. With the possible exception of Felinfoel Brewery in Llanelli, they are all microbreweries, some of whom have been brewing for less than a year.”
The Wobble runs from 16 to 17 November as part of the Mid-Wales Beer Festival, which is celebrating its 30th year.
