Mind Full?
Mindfulness is a Buddhist teaching essential to the path of enlightenment, which aims to rid your mind of cluttered thought.
The concept has been picking up a trend in the past year and companies such as Google have been embracing the idea and training their employees in the technique.
It can help with various mental health conditions and gives people the crucial tools to deal with stressful modern life, by allowing you the ability to clear your head and focus on the present.
Cardiff’s Buddhist Centre invites the public along to their Urban Retreat, from November 9-16. The retreat, with the theme of Loving Kindess- Blazing Like the Sun, is part of a worldwide movement.
People are invited to a series of activities throughout the week, including daily meditation, to help understand and effectively practice the Buddha’s teachings.
Co-ordinator, Kath Lloyd recommends Thursday’s workshop entitled Mindfulness and Compassion, for those less familiar with Buddhist practice.
The workshop introduces people to the transforming power of mindfulness, offering meditation techniques that can help people escape their stressful working lives.
Friday will involve poetry sharing, with coffee and cake, short stories and spiritual community music.
For a full schedule visit the Cardiff Buddhist Centre website.
