Chris Green, Director of The White Ribbon Campaign says, “Wales is leading the way by involving men in speaking out about violence and challenging a culture which supports such violence. We want men to wear a ribbon, swear the pledge and share the message that men want to be part of a respectful, loving society with no place for violence.”
The White Ribbon Campaign which raises awareness of domestic abuse is asking men in Wales to sign the pledge to ‘never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women’.
The campaign, supported by Welsh politician Joyce Watson and Welsh Women’s Aid, is currently reaching out to men who are unaware of the campaign.
The White Ribbon Day, took place on 25 November this year, and raised awareness of domestic abuse against women with a candle-lit service at Llandaff Cathedral.
Joyce Watson said, “The White Ribbon Campaign is reaching out to men with a clear message of what domestic abuse looks like.” She also urges men who sign the pledge to spread the word in their clubs, societies and organisations.
