Mysterious vaults host fright night

A mysterious maze of bank vaults in Cardiff Bay are being reopened to the public in the lead up to Halloween. Those brave enough to venture into the vaults will experience interactive horror film screenings.

Motley Movies are leading guests down for a walk in the maze of derelict bank vaults in Cardiff Bay for their ‘Fright Night and Haunted Basement’ with an interactive film screening of a different horror film each night.

Following the screening there will be live music, Halloween circus games and a pop up bar and food vendor to lighten the mood.

Event organizer, Ian Fernando from It’s On Cardiff said, “We want to remove guests from their comfort zone and escalate the tension and peoples senses with the fear of the unknown.”

Motley Movies have run a rooftop cinema screenings throughout the summer months and the Halloween event marks their move into the winter events.

The venue of choice, the bank vaults of Portland house, are found in the basement of the grade II listed building that was built in 1927.

Once a month the vaults are opened up as an underground nightclub venue for Cellar Door where dancers come from across the city to dance and drink to House and Techno music in the derelict vaults and high ceiling banking hall.

The following films are being screened in the Fright Night and Basement event:

Tuesday 28^th October 2014 – The Conjuring

Wednesday 29^th October 2014 – 28 Days Later

Thursday 30^th October 2014 – Saw

Friday 31^st October 2014 – The Ring
