The effect Brexit is going to have on the Welsh environment will be the topic up for discussion between Jon Gower and Iolo Williams at the Joylons hotel on Cathedral Road next month
The event at Jolyons hotel is part of series called Endevant put on by Turnstile Music which is going to explore how Wales fits into the bigger European picture in the forever changing modern era, through discussion, art and collectiveness.
The series of events has no manifesto, no party affiliation, only a belief in Wales as part of a wider European and international community, according to the label. The word Endevant comes from the Catalan word for “forward”. Forward in a non presumptuous way but borrowing from a language and nation that shares with wales some of the same values, problems and concerns.
The first two events in the series they will be hosted in Turnstile’s home town of Cardiff but they are hoping to get to other parts of Wales in the future. ‘Yn erbyn ein natur’ which in English means ‘against our nature’ will be a Welsh spoken event.
Jon told us that “The effect of Brexit on environmental safe-guards has barely been mentioned in the acres of newsprint and hours of airtime devoted to the analysis of leaving the EU so it’ll be good to ponder what we might lose.”“I think its refreshing that a record company should seize the initiative in holding and promoting such a discussion” he added.
Turnstile is a record label based in Cardiff and has the likes of Gruff Rhys and Christopher Owens signed.
The events will be recorded in front of a live audience and will be uploaded as podcasts. Each of the events will focus on a unique aspect of modern Wales and will be divided between Welsh and English.
