Sport Wales: their mission
Paul Batcup, the PR Officer for Sport Wales, says, “One of our roles is to recruit, train and deploy coaches. Also, in recent years there’s been a focus on volunteers. We realise that it’s not just coaches but the people who do admin, cut the pitches etc. that are just as important to the sporting successes in Wales.”
The award ceremony takes place at the Sport Wales National Centre, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on Wednesday 16 November 2011, at 12pm.

Coaches and volunteers do battle for top sporting accolade
On 16 November, Sport Wales, the organisation responsible for developing and promoting sport and physical activity in Wales, will host its annual Sport Wales Coach of the Year Awards.
The awards ceremony, which is held in Cardiff’s Sophia Gardens, aims to highlight and celebrate the work of coaches and volunteers at the heart of professional and community sport in Wales.
Whilst the ceremony bestows the accolade of “Coach of the Year” upon one overall winner, there are also numerous sub-categories, which include “High Performance Coach of the Year” and “Volunteer of the Year.”
The PR Officer for Sport Wales, Paul Batcup, says, “The awards are about recognising and championing coaches; this is an important area of work and the annual awards helps with raising this profile.”
