Alt Cardiff caught up with welsh band, Truckers of Husk, one of this year’s shortlist nominees. Hywel Evans, guitarist/vocalist, said, “We’re really pleased to be nominated especially as we’re not a band who play very much outside of Cardiff.”
“It’s great to think that people are listening to the album and are enjoying it. The album took ages to put together and was quite a drawn out process so this nomination makes a really nice full stop on the last two years.”
Alongside the music prize, Swn is hosting a celebratory shortlist concert the night before the announcement of the winner.
The concert will host as many of the shortlisted acts as possible and will take place at Cardiff Coal Exchange, Mount Stuart Square on Wednesday 17 October. Doors open at 7.30pm and it’s a 14+ show.
Tickets are available at £10 from:

Welsh Music Prize is back for another year to crown this year’s best Welsh music acts.
Now in its second year, the prize will be awarded at a ceremony in Cardiff on the opening night of Swn Festival. A panel of at least 10 music industry experts will pick the winner.
Marc Thomas, Welsh Music Prize Administrator, says, “Welsh Music Prize is a great opportunity to show the musical talent in Wales. We are a country that has always produced great music.”
The Welsh Music Prize was created by music industry expert John Rostron and Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens. Last year’s winner was Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys. He was shortlisted alongside acts such as Manic Street Preachers and Joy Formidable.
