010- As part of Team GB’s Team Pursuit quartet, Geraint Thomas successfully defended Great Britain’s title achieved in the Beijing Olympic track at London 2012, breaking the world record in the process.
This year has been fantastic for sport, and the shortlist for BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year reflects this. The nominees this year include Olympians, Paralympians, Six Nations players and many more.
As well as the main award, there is the Team of the Year award, the Carwyn James Award for Junior Sports Personalities and the Cymru Wales Lifetime Achievement Award.
The BBC Wales Unsung Hero 2012 award was won by Arthur Wood of Swansea Rifle Club. A BBC spokesman said: “He has devoted many thousands of hours over a long period of time to help all who attend the club.”
The awards are to be held at the Wales Millennium Centre on 10 December. Voting will run between 3 and 8 December.
