A green gym
Pure Gym’s Cardiff branch will attempt to be eco-friendly when it opens next month. For example, all machines apart from the treadmills will be self-powered.
Andrew Scard added, “There’s no sauna, steam room or pool to heat up. This is more energy efficient, thus saving money and helping the environment.
“The best way to fit into modern society is to be a lot greener, give people a reasonable price and make sure they can come in at any time of the day.”

Working out in Cardiff could become cheaper and more convenient
If you’re lifting dumbbells in your bedroom and running circles in your living room to save money, things could be shaping up. Pure Gym is opening up an affordable fitness centre in Millennium Plaza on 17 November.
The gym aims to adapt to a post-recession world with a cost of £9.99 per month with no fixed contract. It also sets out to fit into people’s working lives by being open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The assistant manager Andrew Scard said, “We want to give access to people who work nights or long hours.
“In the recession, people had to cancel gym membership as cost of living has gone up. In response, our concept is to keep costs as low as possible.”
