Carl Edwards takes Kilimanjaro challenge
A celebrity has taken the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro, as ITV Wales presenter Carl Edwards (34) has volunteered.
Carl was diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was 24 and has since been a big supporter for Tenovus Charity Care.
Carl told the Tenovus Cancer Care website, “I’ve never done anything this big before but I expect trekking Kili will be just like my cancer journey; extremely challenging and emotional.”
He also urged more people to get involved in the event after emphasising how important the charity’s work is.
Sian Lloyd recommends Kilimanjaro trek
Patron of Tenovus Cancer Care Sian Lloyd has recommended the Kilimanjaro trek calling it a once in a life time opportunity.
Sian has previously climbed Kilimanjaro, which took her four and a half days.
Sian said to the charity’s website, “As someone who’s already trekked the 5,895 metres to reach the spectacular summit, I can wholeheartedly recommend taking on this challenge for Tenovus Cancer Care. It’s tough but doable, and you’ll make memories and friendships that will last a lifetime!”
Fancy a go yourself?
The climb will begin on 12 November 2016, but volunteers will also be expected to train prior the event.

Tenovus Cancer Care will hold a Kilimanjaro trek information event at The Cardiff Brewery on Crawshay Street on Thursday 19 November.
The charity is searching for volunteers to scale the 5895 km tall mountain on November 2016 to raise money.
Georgina Williams, community and events team administrator for the charity said, “The event will include a few speakers. We’ve managed to get in touch with people who have either climbed Kilimanjaro before or done similar events.”
The money raised from the event will go towards the charity’s mobile units.
“Our fantastic mobile units go out into the community itself to deliver chemotherapy and other treatments, which means they’re taking waiting times off people,” said Georgina.
