Elimination of Violence against Women:
The UN designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women in 1999. Since then, governments, international organisations and NGOs have been called to raise public awareness of this issue on that day.

A rag rug making workshop to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is to be run by the Wales-based charity BAWSO. The workshop will be held in the Old Library in Cardiff city centre between 11am and 3.30pm on 16 and 17 November.
Members of the public are invited to drop in to the workshop and contribute to the project. The rug has already been started by service users at BAWSO.
The finished product will measure approximately 150x70cm and will be displayed in Oxfam Boutique on St Mary Street.
Event organiser Kazari Getz-Kikuchi says, “The whole point of the workshop is to show support from the community while educating the public about the issue of violence against women.”
