In the midst of stuffing season a festive fitness boot camp called Smash the Fat is helping women trade in their sweaters for spandex.
This year, 16 clients with burning ambition have enrolled in Smash the Fat, a community workout invented in 2010 by personal trainer Sian Thomas. The programme consists of a month long camp, where gentle exercises and a sense of communal fun make for a jolly good time.
“Some of my members fear this time of year as they know there is so much temptation around – like mince pies, cake and chocolate,” says Sian.
“The programme is a great way of keeping on track and staying motivated with friends,” she remarks.
“Fundamentally, it is about enjoying your life in a positive environment.”
