Exchange in Roath, a new swap shop event and environmental project, is taking place on 18 October. The aim is to encourage positive environmental attitudes though creative recycling and the arts, in collaboration with the annual Made in Roath festival.
The event is free and will function on a give and take basis; no money will be exchanged. Unwanted items can be dropped off beforehand in exchange of extra points, but everyone will receive points on arrival. Luke Rice, co-organiser, explains: “It is a good way for people to get together, exchange unwanted items and rethink the concept of waste”
“Many things that are considered waste can be upcycled into desirable items. We want to change the way people think about waste creatively.”
