The new kit launch is just the start of a season of celebration for The Eagles who have a tour of Denmark planned for March 2015. They are also hosting a tournament next summer, which will see them face all their previous opponents from the last ten years.
If you are 18 or over and have played ice hockey before, why not join them?
Describing themselves as, “a happy friendly bunch of would-be hockey players,” Cardiff Eagles (formerly Eddy’s Eagles) are in it for the love of the game. General Manager Dave Thomas explains that commitment to the game is key due to the late night, “graveyard” training session. Established as a recreational ice hockey club in 2004 by then-Devils player Ed Patterson, they have an open door policy to those who enjoy the playing but not at a serious competitive level. He describes the club’s ethos as being based on enjoyment of the game, rather than winning, “We’ve never been that bothered about success on the ice. It’s just about 30 guys who are committed. The bottom line is enjoying the sport and if we win something that’s a bonus.”
Don’t worry if you can’t make every week. You can join the team training sessions on a casual basis for £10 a session – although sessions before weekend matches are restricted to team members only. For more information on Cardiff Eagles visit their website.

The Cardiff Eagles will unveil a new kit to celebrate soaring into their 10th anniversary season at the Cardiff Bay Arena, on Thursday 23 October.
To mark their first decade the ice hockey squad will showcase the specially commissioned kit, which will be worn throughout the landmark 2014/15 season, at Thursday’s 11pm training session.
Team manager Dave Thomas said, “The evening will launch the 10th anniversary with a bang and will set the scene for the season ahead.”
Celebrations throughout the season include the club releasing a limited edition full-colour book documenting their first 10 years.
The Eagles are always looking for new members. Ice hockey enthusiasts are welcome to join them in training for the Cardiff Bay Arena every Thursday at 11pm.
