Cardiff welcomes the 5th Welsh Indoor Rowing Championship
Over the weekend of 2 and 3 December The Channel View Centre will be hosting the 5th annual Welsh Indoor Rowing Championships.
The junior competition for 11- 15 year olds kicks off the championships on 2 December followed by the main event the next day. Races are split into individual and team races and this year will be broadcast on S4C.
Last year the competition attracted nearly 700 applicants from all over the world with reigning champion, Evgenii Trofimov, returning this year from St Petersburg, Russia. The professional rowers competing use the competition by means of gauging their own progress.
Event Organiser, Mike Hnatiw explains, “It’s man against machine, competitors are here to beat their personal bests and not each other, there’s no antagonism just a great, supportive atmosphere.”
