More on Pedal Power:
The dedicated organisers at Pedal Power have much more planned on the not-too-distant horizon. This includes a children’s party on Halloween, a vintage fair on November 29 and a quiz in the café on December 5. They also have bikes for general hire throughout the year. When Sybil Williams director of local Cardiff cycling charity Pedal Power found out she was to be awarded an MBE there was really no other option but for her to break out the old two-wheeler and cycle down to the capital.
Well-wishers flocked to Bute Park to wave her and her travelling troupe off and what followed was a gruelling southward cycle but the pain was all worth it for a meeting with Princess Anne herself.
Pedal Power marketing officer Sian Donovan explained how the charity was founded in 1996 to, “Get everybody cycling and especially help people with disabilities.” It has limited funding but continues to thrive through the dedication of its small staff and with incredible help from volunteers.
