What is MoRunning?
Despite what you might think, MoRunning has nothing to do with Olympic double Gold Medallist Mo Farah. Instead it’s a series of runs, which take place every November, in support of the men’s cancer charity Movember.
Much like the rest of the Movember campaign, MoRunning has a sense of fun about it, with male participants often sporting ‘taches, whilst female racers are encouraged to improvise a Mo of their own.
The races, at 5km and 10km distances, are not especially competitive, with an emphasis placed on participation.
This Sunday will see nearly 2,000 runners take to Cardiff’s Bute Park to raise funds for Movember.
They join over 12,000 participants across the country who are getting their running shoes on to support the men’s cancer charity.
Events that have already taken place have been an enormous success. “We are still buzzing from this weekend’s events in Glasgow Edinburgh and Manchester,” says organiser Julien Bontempi.
Their success has led to high hopes for the Cardiff leg of MoRunning, with Julien saying, “We expect a bit under 2,000 MoRunners in Cardiff on Sunday and a lot of Mo’Love to create awareness for men’s health.”
The 5km and 10km Cardiff events have now completely sold out, although donations can still be made via the Movember website.
