Global charity “Movember” is hosting a “MoRun” this November in Cardiff to raise awareness and funds for their cause.

“Movember” was born in 2003 and aims to address health issues that are currently causing men across the globe to die six years earlier than women. These include prostate and testicular cancer as well as poor mental health and male suicide.
The Cardiff MoRun is one of 22 MoRuns happening across the UK and will take place on 10 November 2018 in Bute Park, consisting of a 10k, a 5k and a 1.5k “Mini MoRun” for children.
Runners are encouraged to dress for the occasion, moustache and all, with “Mo medals” up for grabs for the best dressed.
Entries for the Cardiff MoRun are open until 5 November 2018, with runners being given the option to enter either alone or as a part of a team.
Dave Krangel, Founder of MoRunning, said: “To be a MoRunner means you are a part of something bigger than yourself, you’re part of a community, a family and a team.”

Movember describes the current state of male health as being in crisis, with poor mental health currently being a particularly pressing issue: a man somewhere in the world dies every minute as a result of suicide.
Movember aims to decrease the male suicide rate around the world, specifically by 25% by 2030, through events such as MoRun which allow them to raise awareness and start a conversation about male mental health.
Country Director of Movember for the UK and Europe, Anne-Cecile Berthier, said: “MoRunning […] have helped raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for vital men’s health programs, but also work to raise awareness of key men’s health issues”.
