Cardiff Burn is held on Sunday 23 October from 12.00pm, starting at Roald Dahl Plas, Cardiff Bay. Entry costs £49.50 (including kayak hire and equipment) and applicants are encouraged to enter in pairs.
Anyone from the age of eight (with parental supervision) is allowed to enter but organiser Maria Leijerstam has said that contestants need a good level of fitness for the Burn Series and recommends some previous mountain biking and kayaking experience.
Applications close on 20 October so apply now to help Cardiff Burn match its previous performance and continue well into the future. For more information visit http://www.multisportwales.co.uk/2010-events/burn-series-2010-11/cardiff-burn/.

Cardiff Burn sees 50% drop in applications from last year
Last year’s inaugural Cardiff Burn event was a blazing success but it is now struggling to keep the embers alight.
Organiser Maria Leijerstam of Multisport Wales said that applications for the triathlon were down by 50%, citing the clash with the Rugby World Cup final as the primary reason for the disappointing turnout.
This news comes despite recent triumphs for Multisport Wales, as Leijerstam points out, “we had our first Mini Burn and Swansea Burn this year which was a great success.”
The Cardiff Burn course involves a 10km run around Cardiff Bay, a 24km cycle up Caerphilly Mountain followed by a 3km kayaking session back at the Bay.
It remains to be seen whether Wales’ RWC semi-final defeat will improve attendance at the Burn.
