The refurbishment of the sport facilities at the youth centre aren’t the only things to be given a lick of paint over the last few years. The outer exterior of Trelai Youth Centre is decorated with an abundance of graffiti, featuring dragons, people and a potted history of the local area.

Volunteers from the Principality building society in Cardiff have repainted the large sports hall at the youth centre in Ely, revitalizing facilities for hundreds of children, providing them with a fun, clean and safe sporting environment.
The centre provides facilities for young people from Ely and Caerau, aged between 11 and 25, with a sports hall and changing rooms, garden and sound recording studio only some of the offerings.
Shirley Evans, assistant to the CEO of the youth centre, is pleased that the refurbishment shows the community in Ely that the building is being looked after. She says the most important outcome however, is that “The young people have taken ownership of the place, making sure it remains a nice environment to play in.”
