“It’s kind of like the Welsh football kit. I do like the red – red is always good. And the sponsor is not too big.”

“To be honest it looks the same as the old one. There is too much red, in my opinion I’ll only be able to see if I like it when it’s being worn during a game. I’m not sure I would buy it.”

“I’ve already bought it – I think it looks great. Not sure about the charcoal to white down the sides but I buy them every time they come out … WALES, WALES, WALES!”

“Yea, it links in with the dragon, doesn’t it? It’s pretty distinguishable – and of course there’s a hidden benefit: you won’t be able to see any blood! No more blood substitutions – they’re a waste of time anyway. Play on, man up.”

“I prefer the traditional white shorts. The all-red kit is nice but I think another colour besides red would be a good alternative. I’m interested to see what the alternative kit will look like – will it be all-black or all-white?”

“It’s tidy. Much better than the English kit!”

“Yea I think it looks great – I’m trying to imagine Leigh Halfpenny in it though. Yea … that works for me.”
The new 2013/15 Wales rugby kit was unveiled on 17 October and has since generated a sweet and sour flurry of verdicts.
On Saturday, after Cardiff Blues beat Toulon, I conducted my quest for answers in an epidemic of adrenalised fans.
Made by American sports brand Under Armour, who have outfitted Wales since Reebok’s reign ended in 2008, the new design is described by the WRU website as being: “Pervasively red” – a testament to the proud tradition of Welsh rugby.
A reef of technologies corrugate the jersey, shorts and socks, including an Armour Grid husk, customised grips, sweat panels and a four-way elastic gusset on the shorts to provide flexibility.
Opinion generally seemed to side with that of Martin Hambly (39), who observed: “It’s tidy.”
