Waterlogged pitches prevent play

Last weekend the park’s pitches across Cardiff were not open for activities, as Cardiff Council took to the web to inform local sports clubs. The reason for this cancellation was down to the weather, a force of nature that covers the city with heavy rainfall.

The consequence meant waterlogged pitches as they are situated on floodplains with a lack of drainage. Will Power, who works for Cardiff Council grounds maintenance, explained how, ‘If it is tamping down with rain we have to shut the pitches for safety of the players and to ensure the pitches don’t get cut up.”

As this is not the first cancellation of the season, the players are left to worry whether they will be able to finish their season.
