It costs £9m every year to keep the FFC running, and with no government funds they are completely reliant upon donations from the general public.
Participants are expected to pay a minimum of £1, which will be donated to the FFC. The event will start at 5pm and finish at approximately 7pm.
The Fire Fighters Charity is the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.
The FFC have said:
“Our mission is to place beneficiaries at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that the fire and rescue community can rely on The Fire Fighters Charity as its primary point of contact for advice and support. We aim to provide practical assistance and solutions to make a real difference to the lives of members of the fire service community.”
3000 crackers were donated to the FFC by Simply Crackers, Nottingham. The crackers will contain stickers, badges and jokes. There is also a chance to win a £200 voucher for a mountain bike.
The Fire Fighters Charity (FFC) is attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the biggest cracker pull.
On 8 December, in Cardiff Bay, the FFC will be attempting to pull 3000 crackers, in order to gain a prestigious place in the Guinness Book of Records.
The record to beat is 1492 crackers, which was set in Japan, by the Honda company.
The event will take place as part of the Waterfront Christmas Fair, and will include a firework display.
Dougie Bancroft, member of the FFC, has said, “What a way to start the Christmas period. By being a world record breaker, we will also be highlighting the work the fire service does 365 days a year.”
Let’s hope everybody goes crackers for this event.
