A Christmas Carol
Dickens’s festive novella was first published on 19 December 1843 and was illustrated by John Leech.
Since then it has spawned numerous film, television and stage adaptations.
The original title of the story was A Christmas Carol. In Prose. Being a Ghost Story of Christmas.
Norwegian Church Arts Centre will host a performance of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on 11 December.
The seasonal show is back at the Norwegian Church by popular demand and is now a regular event.
The organisers say, “Whether you’ve never heard the tale before, or read it a hundred times, this performance will bring laughter, tears and shivers down your spine.”
The performance is by Dewi Savages and is modeled on Dickens’s own solo recordings that he would have read to audiences in the Victorian era.
The tale follows Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.
Tickets cost £7.50 for adults and the show begins at 19.30. Call the Norwegian Church on 02920877959 or email them to enquire.
