Amateur film celebration turns ten

Cine Nostalgia’s bijou cinema lights up Home Movie Day Wales 2012

The tenth anniversary of an annual celebration of amateur filmmaking comes to Cardiff.

Home Movie Day encourages people to bring old home movies, be it film, tape or DVD, and have their memories projected by film experts.

Alongside venues worldwide, Home Movie Day Wales takes place on 20 October at The Wendy House, Rhiwbina and is presented by Harley Jones of Cine Nostalgia. Having been involved with film production since 1960, Jones says people will have an opportunity to transfer their films to digital for free and he intends to give “advice on the storage and preservation of films and tapes.”

Focusing on local history, confirmed films include: Kevin Nunn’s “Opening of Severn Bridge (1966)” and Mike James’s Super 8 footage of Bedwas Carnival, 1981.
