After a summer hiatus the Philosophy Café is back in session, and increased audience participation has made the discussion even livelier.
A Roath institution since 2008, the Philosophy Café is held at the Gate Arts Centre. Once a month locals gather to engage in friendly debate on subjects ranging from “The paradox of thrift” to “Who owns my genetic information?”
Until recently these topicswere pre-decided – but in a new format, audience members can now use the cafe’s Facebook page and blog to propose subjects they are interested in discussing.
Founder of the Philosophy Café Chris Groves said, “Of three café sessions this autumn we’ve had two suggested by audience members. No technical knowledge is required- everyone is a philosopher anyway, that’s my credo.”
