Technology event encourages high speed hacking ‘for the social good’
Technology enthusiasts have been given the chance to put a social side to their usually solitary pastime with an upcoming hack day.
The inaugural event, named ‘For the Social Good’, will take place next month and aims to unite both professional and amateur technology developers in order to create software in a single day.
“People who work in software get their kicks from this sort of thing,” said Carey Hiles, product manager at Box UK, the company behind the event.
He explained that participants will work in teams from 10 am till 10 pm to build technology, such as an app or a mobile game, to fit the theme ‘For the Social Good’.
Carey added that they hope the event will remove the negative connotations of hacking.
