Where are they now?
How previous Incubator groups have progressed:
Gareth Lloyd Roberts, “A good example is The Bankrupt Bride by Theatr na n’Og, which started as a one piece that we developed as a part of Incubator. The production went on tour nationally and was hugely successful.
“Other productions have started with Incubator and landed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival such as True/Fiction Theatre Company. Shortly you’ll be able to see Dafydd James and Ben Lewis’ The Village Social which started its development as part of Incubator and is now a part of National Theatre Wales’ 2011 programme.”
The Incubator project gives Welsh companies a platform for experimentation.
Welsh companies will showcase the fruits of their labour next month, as part of a project to help develop new creative work.
The four groups selected to take part in Incubator, established by Wales Millennium Centre, will test out new performance ideas in front of the public and an audience of arts’ professionals on 3 November.
The interactive session allows audience members the opportunity to give performers feedback after the show.
Gareth Lloyd Roberts, producer at The Centre, said that when considering proposals there had to be something in the application that grabbed him, an inkling of an idea or an interesting way of developing work practice.
Incubator, which runs all year round, begins by giving participating companies access to The Centre’s rehearsal spaces as well as technical and marketing support, before sharing their work with an audience.
