Aside from a graduate week fashion show, students in fashion design rarely have the chance to show their work to the public, which is an important part when “keeping in touch with reality,” said Claire.
Claire’s A/W collection display can be primarily identified by knit and texture. She uses bodycon silhouettes contrasted against volume.

Local and student designers exhibited their outfits alongside A/W high street pieces
The 2011 Fashion Tour, associated with the British Fashion Council, gave up-and-coming local designers the chance to display their work to members of the public at St. David’s shopping centre last week.
Claire Andrew, a recent graduate in Fashion Design from the University of Wales, has just launched her self-titled label. Pieces from her A/W collection were on display throughout the week, whilst current fashion students from the University of Glamorgan showcased their work on the Friday.
Although London may be viewed as the fashion capital of Britain, it seems Welsh students are keen to keep things local. Claire said, “I’d ideally love to set up locally” before expanding to other cities.
