The Fashionizing event, the first of its kind in Wales, will take place on November 10 at Park Plaza in Cardiff. The fashion networking event hopes to bring together diverse talents and professionals within the fashion and beauty fields, and inspire new forms of collaboration.
Alt: Cardiff has spoken to the organiser of Fashionizing, personal stylist and image consultant Wenda James-Rowe, who explains how and why the event will benefit the Welsh fashion industry:
What is Fashionizing all about?
“There’s two elements to it: the element of people from Wales showcasing their creative talents in terms of fashion and beauty, and then looking at how we can network and promote our businesses to create new opportunities of working together, because the current climate is quite tough.”
Who will benefit from attending?
“If you’ve got a business within fashion or a beauty business, it’s a fantastic opportunity to come on Thursday because it’s a great way to promote yourself. It’s a great concept for people to maybe link up with other likeminded businesses, or businesses that sort of will enhance your own business and perhaps give you the edge or something a little bit different to what you’re currently doing.”
What can Fashionizing do for Cardiff?
“When you think about fashion in the UK, you always tend to think that everything is happening in the London area. [But] we’ve got so much creative talent in Wales alone, and I think it’s time for us to shout about it and promote what we’re doing. Fashionizing is a great concept for people to maybe link up with other like-minded businesses, or businesses that will enhance your own business and perhaps give you the edge.”
What can attendees expect on the night?
“There’s gonna be a number of trade stands: we’ve got John Lewis, Hobbs, Kiehl’s Skincare, we’ve got a number of jewellery designers, I’ve got a lady who formulates unique perfumes… Then we’ve got a half hour where we’re gonna be doing a fast speed networking cycle. And then we’ll be showcasing Michelle McGrath’s new range, A Little Bit of Couture. It’s quite exciting.”
The event costs £10 if booked in advance and £15 on the night, however there are a limited amount of student tickets available for £5. Wenda James-Rowe advises that tickets be booked in advance.
