There are more Oxjam events to come this October. Alt Cardiff has compiled some local highlights to whet your appetite:
21/10 – Oxjam @ The Patriot. Oxjam returns to The Patriot Inn in Crumlin for a second year in a row, thanks to local promoter Rocking Music. Find the line-up here.
22/10 – SWIGEN Festival. A day of live music featuring at least 25 Welsh or Welsh-based artists. Held at the beautiful Ebenezer Chapel, Charles Street, Cardiff. Tickets: £5 advance, £6 on the door. For more info go to their homepage.
25/10 – Oxslam 2011. Following the poetry slam between Cardiff and Swansea last year (which Cardiff won!), this year Swansea will be looking to get the better of their rivals on home turf. Go and support the Cardiff team at the No Sign Wine Bar in Swansea. Find the Facebook event here.
Despite the financial gloom, music fans in Cardiff are still prepared to donate money to charity – if the fundraising gig is worth it
The Oxjam Cardiff Takeover raised over £4000 for Oxfam this October, beating last year’s total by at least £1200.
Becci Scotcher-Jones, Media and Marketing Coordinator for Oxjam Cardiff, believes that the lively music community in Cardiff has ensured the charity festival’s success here.
She said: “Oxjam has grown massively in Cardiff over the past few years, thanks to the support of local venues, businesses and of course all of the amazing musicians who get involved and play for free.”
The event is part of the month-long Oxjam Festival, which this year features more than 9000 musicians and bands across the UK.
