What is the pop-up exhibition?
The pop-up exhibition will take place after the FORUM discussion. It will feature black and white photocopies of artists’s work; all are welcome to submit photocopies to exhibit.
The guest speakers
Cat Gardiner is the founder and curator of Gallery/Ten, a contemporary art gallery in Windsor Place, Cardiff. Gallery/ten began in 2010 as a pop-up gallery but has now become a permanent gallery representing more than 20 artists.
Dafydd Williams and Zosia Krasnowolska worked together to create “Visitors”, a pop-up exhibition in Abertillery, Wales. The exhibition took place in a derelict barbers and featured works by several foreign and British photographers. They have recently received public-funding to continue ‘the*kickplate*project’, which aims to deliver photography from artists around the world.
A pop-up exhibition will follow FORUM’s final open discussion of the year, on 28 November, at the Chapter Arts Centre.
FORUM, which began in 2009, is an informal monthly event for budding and early career artists. This finale will be led by guest curator Cat Gardiner and artists Dafydd Williams and Zosia Krasnowolska.
The event co-ordinator, Bob Gelsthorpe, describes the open event as: “a platform for practitioners to exchange ideas, experience and opinions on visual culture.”
Each month FORUM invites artists to showcase new pieces of art that relate to the month’s theme; offering the chance for feedback and discussion. Gelsthorpe explains: “FORUM is diverse in its nature and has no fixed form.”
The pop-up exhibition will take place in Ffotogallery’s new meeting room in Chapter.
