Radstewart fact-file:
Unfortunately there’s no big story to the band’s name, Jac explains how it was just an in-joke that got taken too far. “There’s nothing mysterious or particularly interesting about it,” he says.
Although the boys have previously had musical endeavours, they actually met at Cardiff’s Live Music Society whilst studying at university. All now graduates the boys have degrees in the following subjects and play the following instruments:
- Chris Lovell – guitarist and Astrophysics graduate
- Jac Jones – vocals/occasional bass player and Theology graduate
- Dylan Price – drummer and Architect graduate
- Calvin Duggan – guitar/bass player and English Literature graduate
Since forming they have released one EP and are due to release another this spring with Cardiff based record label, Alcopop.
This summer they toured parts of the UK with fellow indie rock band, Sky Larkin and have loose plans to tour again in the build-up to the their next EP release.
Although still growing the boys believe their music clicks with students and people who are inspired by the 90s era.
We can expect to see plenty more from Radstewart in the New Year!
Shape Festive Function is on the 14 December at 7pm at Clwb Ifor Bach, you can get tickets for £7 from Spillers Records.
Radstewart formed just over a year ago, they already have a record deal and will play alongside Sweet Baboo at Shape Records’ Festive Function.
The indie rock band is made up of four Cardiff graduates and has previously been popular at local festivals such as Sŵn and Green Man.
Band member, Jac Jones says, “Collaboratively we like to think we bring a unique edge. We all listen to a large variety of music, so it’s fun for everyone to see these elements collide.”
The boys will be playing at Clwb Ifor Bach for the Shape Festive Function on the 14 December.
Jac says, “Shape are an independent record label from Cardiff and have releases from some pretty big Welsh names. The gig will be fun with lots of great bands playing.”
