A short interview with Christian Amodeo
Are you from Cardiff yourself?
“Yes I was born and bred in Cardiff, and although I have done a bit of travelling, I will always come back to my hometown.”
Apart from being born in Cardiff, what is it about the city that attracts or interests you?
“Not only is Cardiff my hometown, it is special to me and I love it in many ways. I moved to London at one point and coming back to Cardiff was amazing because it just has a homely vibe and it really feels like you can own it and put it in your pocket!”
What inspired you to make a song about the Cardiff bus?
“The song wasn’t made with a big budget, as you can probably tell when you watch it. It was more about having fun. The Cardiff bus song is a totally positive thing that anyone who likes Cardiff or lives in Cardiff can get involved with and appreciate.”
Are you happy with the response from people who have heard the song?
“Totally and utterly taken aback to be honest! It all came from my wife’s idea to make a song about the Cardiff bus and developed from there. When we came up with the idea, I needed a singer so asked my brother in Melbourne to sing the lyrics for the song. From something as simple as that, we now have a song that has gone viral, with over 80,000 hits on Youtube! It has been a very humbling and gratifying experience!”
