Is there a shop that you would like to see come to Queen Street or St David’s?
Gareth Frobisher, 51, physicist, Cardiff
“No. It’s got a good diversification of stores. All together, it’s a really good shopping area.”

“I think everything that you need is there. Maybe more food shops, as there are only Tesco and Sainsbury’s.”

“I’d say there are enough food shops and restaurants. I’d quite like to see another library come, there’s only one library open around here.”
Liesa Nottle, 32, university administration officer, St Mellons
“I’d like to see some independent coffee shops and cafes. The existing chains have the same offerings constantly. There are never any changes to cakes or sandwiches.”
Hector Champipis, 23, barman, Cardiff
“You could have more museums, or a residential use of the area. I think it is ridiculous how you have three shopping malls. They all sell the same stuff. I think it makes the town lose its flavour.”
A Michael Kors shop will be opening in the St David’s 2 shopping centre – their first in Cardiff.
Founded in 1981, the company sells luxury handbags, fragrances, watches, shoes and clothing all around the word.
The retailer has agreed a lease on a 3,190 sq ft store at the southern end of The Hayes. An opening date has not yet been announced.
Steve Madeley, general manager for St David’s said, “The addition of the store will complement the mix of existing retailers, and we know that our fashion forward shoppers will be delighted with the news.”
With Michael Kors opening in St David’s, what would the people of Cardiff like to see here next? We took to the streets to find out.
