Experimentica15: Are you asking for evidence of the truth?
A taster of some of the artists performing this week:
Sarah Duffy, Enjoy the Silence
Sarah Duffy will be performing a live ventriloquist version of Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence song and its attempts to persuade the listener of the uselessness of words. Duffy’s performance is centred on the use of belly speaking, exploring women’s historical association with religious practices where their bodies became supernatural vessels.
Anna Natt, Uro
Uro is what remains when the pomp is extracted from a bullfight, its parts deconstructed and examined as individual postures and movements. Anna Natt steps into the bodies of both bull and bullfighter, studying man vs. nature and masculinity vs. meat.
Aaron Williamson, Demonstrating the World
In Demonstrating the World, Aaron Williamson explores the ‘alien’ or ‘other’ through an absurdly elaborate, live reinterpretation of YouTube ‘How-To’ videos. He enacts everyday tasks such as opening a cupboard, removing a jacket, or sitting on a chair, with detailed step-by-step instructions.

EXPERIMENTICA15, beginning on 4 November, comprises a range of live art and performances from artists in the UK and worldwide.
During the festival at Chapter Arts Centre, 28 acts will perform some of their most challenging and thought provoking work through different approaches, including choreography, song, ventriloquism, poetry and multimedia with some events being live streamed.
Communications Officer, Mair Jones said, “The curator sets the overarching theme which, this year, is ‘Are you asking for evidence of the truth?’ and the event then shows performances from artists responding to that question.
“All the artists have responded differently to the idea of truth and are exploring it in their own way.”
