Alt Cardiff took to the streets of Cardiff to let members of the public have their say..
Would you pay more for locally sourced produce?
Emily Mason, 36, full time mother, Llantrisant
“Yes, I think supporting local farmers is very important. I pay a little more to buy organic Welsh milk, eggs and sometimes meat.”
Andrew Hicks, 22, Security guard, Cardiff
“The thought doesn’t really cross my mind when I’m shopping, it is all about price. If something is cheap and local then that’s a bonus but I wouldn’t pay more just because it is from Wales.”
Sian Jones, 39, primary school teacher, Cardiff
“I would pay a little more but sometimes local food is far more expensive which I just can’t afford. If it is a similar price I do try and choose Welsh produce over any other though.”
Richard Morgan, 73, retired, Vale of Glamorgan
“Yes we pay more for local meat. We grow our own vegetables and get our eggs directly from a farm to guarantee they are truly free range; they taste far better than the ones from the supermarket.”
Jenny Lewis, 21, student, Vale of Glamorgan
“As a student I can’t afford to pay more for local produce, although I do think supporting the local economy is important.”
Dan Silva, 40, retail manager, Penarth
“I think supporting the local farmers is important but the missus is in charge of the weekly shopping so you’d have to ask her to be honest.”

The Welsh supermarket chain Filco has revamped its Cowbridge store and made headway in its aim to source more products locally in an attempt to keep customers from straying elsewhere.
The store, which opened on Cowbridge High Street in 1968 has undergone a radical modernisation of its check out area as well as launching a local food initiative, sourcing products from local farms throughout the Vale of Glamorgan and surrounding areas.
Val Morris, a local resident and Filco customer said, “The store looks far better now than it ever has, and supporting local farms is something I think the community here cares strongly about.”
The stores renovation comes just as the supermarket giant Waitrose opened the doors of its new Cowbridge branch last week.
