David’s Twitter handle and phrase, “I want to bake free” has become so popular and associated with David’s project that he is in the process of trademarking it. He said that the response to his blog and Twitter has been amazing, and that he believes people are responding so well because most people have a dream they want to follow.
David’s personal touch to social media has helped with his popularity. He said, “It doesn’t work for a lot of companies because people have no interest in reading about a couple of new products, but they are interested in me as I’ve made it so personal. It’s about the struggle, and breaking free.”
David has many ideas for his project. Considering the theme of the tearoom, he said, “Think nice oak tables, and porcelain china, and lots of real butter, cakes, and cream, and sugar, and loose leaf teas. There will be really good coffee that I’ve written about on my blog. That’s the kind of theme I want. I want really traditional but I don’t want horse brass, and I don’t want doilies.”

David is living his dream and starting his own tearoom
David Le Masurier left the corporate world of hotels behind, and has embarked on a mission to open a tearoom in Cardiff.
After working in the hotel industry for nearly 10 years, David wanted to follow his dreams and start his own independent business.
David’s tearoom will be traditional, evoking Victorian grandeur. He said, “People love little treats and I think it’s a great way for people to get out and enjoy each other’s company.”
The tearoom will focus on quality, and all baking will be done on site. David believes he will have the edge over coffee chains, as there will be “no sticky tables.”
Although the venue is currently top secret, David plans to open in Cardiff, mid February 2012.
