The Bottle Shop
Since 2012, The Bottle Shop have been offering Cardiff a new approach to alcohol.
As part of their efforts to discourage cheap binge drinking deals, the team in both Roath and Penarth offer fair prices and expert advice on their extensive range of spirits, wines and craft beers.
Catch owner Dan Williams explain the inspiration behind the store to fellow Alt. Cardiff publication Grill and Barrel:
Speaking about the new venture Bottle Shop owner Dan Williams said, “we’re having a new big window fitted so the room will be a lot lighter and there are are so many possibilities f0r how we can use the space.”
As well as using the room for pop-up wine tastings, such as the regular Winyl events currently being run at the shop, the new speakeasy space will also be used for business meetings and networking events.
An artisan drinking magazine will launch this week, in time for the opening of a new micro pub in Penarth.
Currently online, seasonal homedrinking guide, Shlurp will officially be launching at Cardiff Journalism School on Tuesday 9 December.
The publication comes six weeks before independent wine merchants, The Bottle Shop, are set to open an onsite “speakeasy” in the New Year.
In collaboration with Muse dating magazine, the launch will include cocktails and a celebrity dating quiz, and will take place a between 1-3pm.
Jess Rayner writer for Shlurp said, “After many weeks of planning we’re excited to see the magazine in print. At the launch we’ll be giving everyone a flavour of what to expect from Shlurp with some tasty cocktails.”
