A glimpse of what’s in store for Curado Bar
Owners of award winning Spanish tapas bar and restaurant plan to open their first branch in Cardiff with a focus on northern Spanish Cuisine within the next month
Following Ultracomida’s massive success in Aberystwyth and Narbeth, the company plan to use their years of expertise in Spanish cuisine and open a sister bar that caters for people with a great appetite for food and wine. Ainhoa Sagarmendi, Spanish food expert commented, “Their selection of food is amazing and it’s a great place to get quality Spanish products.”
The company directors at Curado Bar aim to constantly evaluate what is available, how the current stock is performing and take in to account customer needs. Leigh Sinclair, company director added, “the city comes alive at night and with the quality of what we have to offer we believe that it will add to an already diverse offering of food spots around the Centre.”
Taking over the former Burger King premises on Westgate Street in Cardiff City Centre, Cuardo bar plan to open early next month with some possible competition nearby. Bar 44, which also resides on Westgate Street has been rated in the top five places in the UK to eat tapas and won the Harpers Spanish Heroes Award in 2015 for the best wine list. However, Leigh explained that the company is good friends with Bar44 and share a love of Spanish culture. “We feel our differences actually strengthen both of our offerings as we will establish the first Spanish quarter of Cardiff!”

The bar aims to be more evening focused in comparison to Ultracomida to cater to the urban city scene. The company directors believe this will be the right approach for Cardiff as it fits with the already thriving food scene and are extremely happy to see their plans come to light this year. Paul Grimwood, company director commented, “We are delighted to fulfil a long term ambition to open in Cardiff.”
