Who ate all the pies?
We took to the streets of Cardiff to put the pies to the test
Greggs Sweet Mince Pies x 6, £1.40
We thought: a nice homemade looking pie. It’s the closest you’ll get to your Mum’s baking.
They thought: “These are really nice as you can actually taste everything in them and the pastry is great too, really crumbly.” James
Sainsbury’s Deep Filled Mince Pies x 6, £1.00
We thought: a cheap and cheerful option for having friends over.
They thought: “This tastes the best as its flavour is slightly different to the others. I’ve never had a mince pie before but they’re my new favourite.” Deyan
Mr Kipling Exceedingly Merry Mince Pies x 6, £1.79
We thought: this guy is known for his quality baking and these pies look like they would go down a treat.
They said: “I didn’t like this one as you couldn’t taste any mince meat.” Claire
Co-op Luxury All Butter Mine Pies x 6, £1.60
We thought: these pies looked really festive and the flavours sound really Christmassy with brandy and fruit.
They thought: “I really didn’t like it – it tastes too alcoholic. Is there brandy in this?” Yola
ASDA Mince Pies x 6, £1.00
We thought: another bargain if you wanted to stock up in quantity, in case you got snowed in.
They thought: “Really nice. It tasted very fruity and sticky. The pastry is lovely too.” Dave

How do you like to eat your mince pie? by amyrhall
The test was carried out in Cardiff earlier today and provided some interesting results, with so called budget brands coming out on top.
More expensive pies from the Tesco Finest and the Coop Irresistible rages, both of which boast brandy amongst their ingredients, were not so well received with one taster claiming, “It tastes too alcoholic, I don’t like it.”
The least favorite pie in the comprehensive survey was Mr. Kipling which received 0% of the votes.
